Dudus Coke's main US operations are in the Bronx and Queens

Posted On 20:26 0 comments

Dudus Coke's main US operations are in the Bronx and Queens. Jamaican businessmen are said to have flown into the US with drugs and purchased guns here to send back to Jamaica for the Shower Posse. In Kingston, Coke is seen by many as a better caretaker than the government, and the Guardian reports that protesters were carrying signs in the capital that read "Jesus died for us. We will die for Dudus."

Dudus Coke is still on the run, but the Daily News reports that he may turn himself in to US authorities this weekend. A source close to Coke said he would prefer to avoid being locked up in a Jamaican jail. Probably a good idea.

Christopher Dudus Coke: Who Is the Jamaica Drug Lord - The Daily Beast

Christopher Dudus Coke: Who Is the Jamaica Drug Lord - The Daily Beast: "Twenty years ago, American authorities had Jamaica's most feared drug lord in their hands. In 1988, the aptly named Christopher Coke, aka 'Dudus,' was convicted of possession of stolen property in North Carolina. But instead of being sent to an American prison, he was deported to Jamaica. Since his return to the island, Dudus has cultivated an almost messianic following among his supporters in the West Kingston neighborhood of Tivoli Gardens. So when Jamaican authorities announced last week that they would extradite Dudus to the U.S., people took to the streets in protest, brandishing signs that read “Jesus died for us, we will die for Dudus.”"

The Associated Press: Mexico offers rewards for 33 drug gang suspects: "Juan Pablo Ledezma, is believed to be the head of La Linea, said the official, who is with the joint army and police operation in charge of security in Chihuahua. He agreed to discuss the list only on condition of not being quoted by name, because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.
A turf battle between the Juarez and Sinaloa drug cartels has turned Ciudad Juarez into one of the world's deadliest cities. More than 4,300 people have been killed over the past three years in the city, which lies across the border from El Paso, Texas.
Five men were killed in a Ciudad Juarez shooting Friday, said Arturo Sandoval, a spokesman for the Chihuahua state prosecutors' office.
The five were riding in a car when gunmen drove up beside them and opened fire, Sandoval said. Two of the five were killed inside the car. The others tried to flee into a restaurant but were gunned down in front of panicked customers."

At least 10 gunshots were fired, he said, possibly by multiple persons."

West End shooting may be a targeted gang-related attack: police - Winnipeg Free Press: "shooting that killed a teenaged boy in the city's West End neighbourhood Tuesday afternoon was possibly a targeted, gang-related attack, Winnipeg police said today.
Const. Jason Michalyshen said two suspects arrived at a Toronto Street residence just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, then shot at the two boys, aged 13 and 16.
The older boy suffered gun shot wounds to his upper and lower body. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries, Michalyshen said. The 13-year-old boy was hit in the lower body,' he was treated in hospital and released.
'This is not a random act,' Michalyshen said during a news conference from the Public Safety Building this afternoon. 'These individuals were targeted.'
A second shooting happened when an associate of the two boys followed their attackers and eventually discharged a firearm in the 600 block of Agnes Street, two blocks to the east of where the initial attack occurred, police said. Two vehicles were struck; they were unrelated to the first shooting and no one was injured."

44 Dead in Jamaican Gunbattles | Americas | English: "alleged leader of the 'Shower Posse,' named for the practice of showering rivals with bullets during the cocaine wars of the 1980s, has not been found.

The unrest has forced the closure of schools and businesses across the capital, and a state of emergency remains in effect for parts of Kingston.

The United States issued a travel alert to warn citizens against visiting the island nation.

Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding told parliament Tuesday the government deeply regrets the loss of lives, especially those of members of the security forces and innocent, law-abiding citizens caught in the crossfire. He promised 'strong and decisive' action to restore order in the country.

Coke is wanted by the United States for alleged cocaine and arms trafficking. U.S. officials sent an extradition request for Coke to the Jamaican government nine months ago, but Prime Minister Golding had refused to allow it to be processed, arguing that the evidence in it had been obtained illegally."

Cops: Gang member stabbed during West Main Street altercation: "Philippe Robinette, 26, of Akron, Ohio stabbed 30-year-old Riverhead resident Brian Castillo three times at around 1 p.m. Monday after Mr. Castillo, a self-professed Latin King gang member, confronted Mr. Robinette, whom he believed to be a member of a rival gang, police said.
What started as a verbal altercation outside the Seafield Center substance abuse center, with Mr. Castillo cursing at Mr. Robinette, quickly turned into a physical struggle in the middle of the road, according to police. It was unclear to police who first pulled out the knife.
'There was just a lot of cops,' said an employee at the nearby Lighthouse Insurance agency. 'We seen a stretcher go out,' added a colleague.
Police said Mr. Robinette attempted to flee the scene by foot, but was apprehended a short time later. He is being held on $50,000 bail, police said"

Gangs Reportedly Growing in Mountain State - WVNS-TV - WVNSTV.com

Gangs Reportedly Growing in Mountain State - WVNS-TV - WVNSTV.com: "linked 24 gangs to West Virginia. That includes white supremacy groups, outlaw motorcycle gangs, and perhaps the most dangerous of the group: street gangs. Detective Jim Sizemore, with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, says it’s a problem that must be stopped before it grows.
“What we’re seeing is just the tip of the iceberg,” said Sizemore. 'We’ve got a presence of gangs right her in the southern part of our state.”
Some of the gangs, found in our state, stem from Kanawha County. Gangs have set up shop in Charleston and also in the surrounding areas. Undercover police officers say that gangs don’t need to live in the city to operate. In some instances they’ll commute from outlying communities.
One undercover officer with the Charleston Police Department told us they’ve dealt with a slew of street gangs including Bloods, Crips and the Folk Nation out of Chicago. Lately they’ve seen a lot of action from what they call hybrid gangs.
“A lot of times the New York guys, or the Detroit, Columbus guys, they will come in and maybe one or two guys will try to set up a gang here,” said one of the undercover police officers we interviewed.
Hybrid gangs are often created by out-of-towners. Sometimes they also learn the trade through pop culture like music videos, or the internet. Often times hybrid gangs are focused on money, and have less hardcore affiliations with a larger group. In other words, Bloods and Crips will sometimes work together when it’s profitable."

The Press Association: Forces battle wanted leader's gang: "More than 1,000 police and soldiers have raided a public housing complex in Jamaica occupied by heavily armed gangsters defending an alleged drug lord wanted by the US.
In a major offensive in the heart of West Kingston's ramshackle slums, security forces broke through barbed-wire barricades and fought their way into the warren-like Tivoli Gardens neighbourhood on Monday night.
Sporadic gunfire could be heard into the night echoing across the darkened slums, where authorities cut off power.
Masked gunmen have swarmed around West Kingston trying to prevent the extradition of Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, who has been indicted in New York on drug and arms trafficking charges. The US Justice Department considers him one of the world's most dangerous drug lords."

Jamaican police storm gangster’s complex - The Boston Globe: "Security forces fought their way into the warren-like complex that is the slum stronghold of a Jamaican gang leader facing extradition to the United States and sporadic gunfire could be heard late into last night.

More than 1,000 police officers and soldiers attacked heavily armed gang members defending the West Kingston base of Christopher “Dudus’’ Coke, who has been indicted in the United States on drug and arms trafficking charges. Military helicopters flying with their lights off could be heard buzzing above the darkened slums, where authorities cut off power.
As security forces broke through barbed-wire barricades yesterday to begin their offensive in Coke’s Tivoli Garden neighborhood, clashes with masked gunmen spread to other volatile slums close to the capital on Jamaica’s southeastern coast, far from the tourist resorts on the north shore."

Mexican Mafia attacks taking place in Valley towns | Street Gangs Resource Center – Los Angeles and California | The Gang Experts | Crips | Bloods | Mara Salvatrucha | 18th Street: "One night in early April, Bobby Leal, Israel Banda, Abraham Serna and another unidentified suspect put a gun to someone’s head, beat and stabbed him repeatedly, then left him for dead in front of the Harlingen Sports Complex.
Roughly one week later, violence broke out again in Harlingen when Leal and Alfredo Aguilar attempted to kidnap a Harlingen man at gunpoint outside his brother’s house. Aguilar was shot in the stomach and taken to the hospital after the victim fought back. Both Aguilar and Leal were arrested soon after the incident.
What has concerned local police is both the violent nature of these two incidents and that the crimes appear to be connected to one of the largest and most violent gangs in Texas."

U.S. gangs, Mexican drug traffickers linked

U.S. gangs, Mexican drug traffickers linked: "Mexican drug traffickers need someone killed or kidnapped, or drugs distributed in the United States, they increasingly call on American subcontractors - U.S.-based prison gangs that run criminal enterprises from behind bars, sometimes even from solitary confinement.
Prison gangs have long controlled armies of street toughs on the outside. But in interviews with The Associated Press, authorities say the gangs' activity has expanded beyond street-level drug sales to establish a business alliance with Mexican cartels.
'They'll do the dirty work that, say, the cartels, they don't want to do' in the United States. 'They don't want to get involved,' said a former member of Barrio Azteca, a U.S. prison gang tied to Mexico's Juarez cartel."
