suspicious blaze at the Twisted Soul Tattoo Shop on 7th Avenue

Posted On 16:56 0 comments

Gang warfare has landed a disabled woman in hospital with severe burns after her home was apparently set on fire, according to Prince George RCMP, who are linking the blaze to a suspicious fire at a tattoo shop one day earlier.

A 60-year-old woman who is confined to a wheelchair had to be rescued when firefighters discovered her home fully engulfed in flames shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

She is now in critical condition with severe burns at a Vancouver Hospital.

Mounties in the northern city say the injured woman is related to a known gang member, who is currently in jail. The prisoner was formerly a tenant at the burnt home, located in the 4000-block of Foster Road.

Just a day earlier, firefighters were called to a suspicious blaze at the Twisted Soul Tattoo Shop on 7th Avenue -- an establishment that just happens to be operated by the same incarcerated gang member.

"We believe the suspicious fire at the Twisted Soul Tattoo Shop and this fire are somehow connected. This is an unsettling example of how innocent people are affected by organized crime as the violence they inflict on each other also affects the entire community," RCMP Const. Lesley Smith said in a release.

"It is not uncommon for a rival gang to inflict harm on their opponent by targeting a friend or family member."

Investigators are calling both fires suspicious.

Police haven't released the targeted man's gang affiliation, but say three gangs have taken hold in the city, including the Game Tight Soldiers, the Independent Soldiers and the Renegades, a motorcycle gang associated with the Hells Angels.

A fourth gang is believed to be trying to infiltrate the scene.

Prince George has seen an increase in gang activity and violence in recent years. Last month, it was rated as the most dangerous city in the county by Maclean's magazine, and RCMP blamed gang violence for the ranking.

Experts believe that a crackdown on the Hells Angels have left a vacuum in the local drug trade, and the remaining gangs are battling to fill the void.

Drug gang leaders held following Garda 'super raid' - The Irish Times - Tue, Nov 09, 2010

Posted On 07:35 0 comments

Drug gang leaders held following Garda 'super raid' - The Irish Times - Tue, Nov 09, 2010: ", the gang leader, Christy Griffin (41), originally from Canon Lillis Avenue, Dublin, was accused of raping a young woman repeatedly from the time she was a child. Griffin has since been convicted of rape and is serving a life sentence.
Many of his associates stood by him while others believed Griffin’s accuser and formed a faction opposed to Griffin. A volatile and dangerous gangland feud ensued involving not only five murders, but numerous non-fatal shootings and pipe bomb and grenade attacks.
The Garda raids yesterday targeted the gang feuding with Griffin’s grouping.
“Operation Chisel”, which has been under way for 10 months, is centred on gathering information with a view to securing prosecutions under new anti-gangland legislation introduced last year. These laws made it an offence to lead or participate in a crime gang.
As well as the Dublin raids, searches took place in the other four counties because the gang has members living there or is supplying drugs to smaller gangs in those areas.
According to Garda sources, the target gang has forged close links with arguably the two biggest crime gangs in Ireland: the McCarthy-Dundon gang in Limerick; and the gang in Finglas, Dublin, once led by murdered criminal Eamon Dunne.
Yesterday’s operation was co-ordinated from Pearse Street Garda station by Chief Supt Pat Leahy, under Assistant Commissioner Mick Feehan, who is in charge of policing in Dublin, and Deputy Commissioner Martin Callinan, who is in charge of all operations across the force."

Halloween slaying of boy, 5, highlights changes in South Los Angeles gang crime

Posted On 00:37 0 comments

The Canadian Press: Halloween slaying of boy, 5, highlights changes in South Los Angeles gang crime: "Arms flexed in a muscleman pose, Aaron Shannon Jr. was getting ready for a Halloween party while his grandfather snapped photos of him in a Spiderman costume.
Suddenly, the click of the camera lens was replaced by the pop, pop of gunfire and the 5-year-old boy was shot in the head and killed.
The Oct. 31 attack — blamed on misdirected gunfire from suspected Crips gang members raiding Bloods turf — harkened back to the carnage of the 1980s and early '90s when brazen young men patrolled the streets of the area once called South Central and gave little thought to living or dying.
Then, Aaron's death likely would have flared the Crips-Blood rivalry even further and been followed by a retaliation shooting, then another and so on.
'In the old days, this would have been a massive bloodbath,' said Guillermo Cespedes, head of the city's gang reduction program. 'An incident like this, even a couple of years ago, would have created many more days of violence.'"

gangs which have been there for a long time include the Crips and the Bloods from California.

Posted On 09:14 0 comments

The gangs which have been there for a long time include the Crips and the Bloods from California. The origins of the Crips and Bloods can be traced to the late 1960′s, and the gang culture is a very deep rooted trait in the west coast area that many families have three to four generations of gangsters residing in the same residence areas where their origins sparked off. L.A. has gangs like any other city in the world but their number is between 800 and 1000 (one of the largest in the world) , with members from ranging between astonishing numbers of 120,000 to 220,000 . These numbers have been a serious debate over the past years, and depending on what set of criteria is being followed to decide who is and is not a gang member. The figures could be considerably higher.
One of the famous Little Rock Blood gangs, the Highland Court Crew, has been their in various forms of organizations since 1984. Graffiti and other activities by them were became a major mark in round about 1987. Most of the other major area gangs were formed pretty later on in the late 80′s and early 90′s with the greatest gang growth year being 1990. Almost all of these gangs are affiliated with the four major gangs. Those are: 1) Crips; 2) Bloods; 3) Folk Nation; and 4) People Nation. The Crips and Bloods are Los Angeles oriented while the Folk Nation and People Nation are Chicago oriented. The Black Gangster Disciples (a sub-group of the Hoovers) appears to be the largest denomination with the Bloods being the second largest. Some believe the Disciples and Crips are aligning on the streets as well as in the prisons, as are the Bloods and Vice-Lords.
During the time they serve in prison, these youngsters are exposed to the world of real life gangsters who have truly experienced the hard-core gang violence. Then once they get back put on the streets these new comers go with more “knowledge” than ever could have been gained on the streets. When they are in prison, many gain rank or “juice” within their gang because they went to the “joint”. While most kids on the streets are good kids, as long as society continues in the direction in which we are currently drifting, all kids must be considered at risk.

Nevertheless, that’s where Niagara police found the double-barreled weapon when they raided a crack house in a Queenston Street apartment in St. Catharines Thursday.

Police had heard there might be a weapon inside the house before they executed a search warrant and also found ammunition for it as well as some crack cocaine and marijuana.

“The firearm was located in the bedroom stuffed under a pillow and appeared to be in working condition,” a police spokesman said, adding members of the St. Catharines Street Crime Unit had begun receiving information a week ago about a man living on Queenston Street selling crack cocaine. Further information suggested that this male was in possession of a firearm.

A 23-year-old St. Catharines man faces drug possession and trafficking charges as well as charges of possession of a prohibited firearm, careless storage of a firearm and proceeds of crime.

Quebec police are remaining tight-lipped about the reported stabbing of one of Canada's most notorious criminals.

Officers are confirming that four inmates were involved in an altercation at the Sainte Anne des Plaines Penitentiary Saturday afternoon.

But they are not confirming reports that Maurice "Mom" Boucher, the former head of the Hells Angels in Montreal, was hurt in the incident.

Surete du Quebec Sgt. Gregory Gomez del Prado said two prisoners received minor injuries in the altercation.

"One of them refused to go to the hospital, and the other one was transferred to the hospital in Laval," he said.

"We're investigating, of course, to try to determine what happened."

He said the incident will be reviewed by the Crown prosecutor to determine if charges will be laid.

Boucher is currently serving three life sentences at the prison.

Mom Boucher stabbed in prison brawl: reports: "high-ranking member of the Hells Angels currently serving three life sentences in a Montreal-area jail was reportedly one of two men stabbed within the facility on Saturday.
Various media outlets are reporting that Maurice (Mom) Boucher received only minor injuries in the altercation in the Ste. Anne des Plaines detention centre.
Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Claude Ross confirmed the SQ responded to reports of an incident in the facility, where Boucher has been held for the past eight years, at around 3:15 p.m. There were four men involved in the altercation, Ross said, and two were injured. When the SQ arrived to escort them to hospital, they refused, leading investigators to conclude their wounds were not severe.
Investigators were still on the scene Saturday night meeting with all four men, Ross said. He could not confirm if Boucher was involved in the incident.
Boucher, the former leader of the Hells Angels' Montreal chapter, was convicted in 2002 of ordering the deaths of prison guards in an attempt to intimidate Quebec justice officials.
He survived a previous attack involving a makeshift knife in the prison's common room later that same year. Boucher was only slightly injured, but his attacker was stabbed 21 times by five other inmates who rushed to Boucher's aid."

Scot has ear, fingers & toes chopped off during drug gang kidnap ordeal in Portugal - The Daily Record: "SCOT had an ear, two fingers and three toes chopped off during a horrific kidnap ordeal over an alleged £10,000 drug debt.
James Ross, 26, was tortured in a villa on the Algarve for 13 days after being lured to Portugal by a gang of Brits.
Dad-of-two Ross, from Wick, Caithness, was found bleeding in the street in the village of Alfontes, near Loule, by Carlos Pereira.
Carlos said: 'He came staggering towards me, asking me to stop, waving his arms in the air.
'He had no left ear and was missing two fingers on his left hand, a toe from one foot and two from the other. He also had a leg wound.'
Ross told him he had been involved in a road accident.
Mr Pereira said: 'He was very white. He said, 'Please, please, telephone'. I decided to put him in my van and drove him to a square, near a cafe, and called the police.'
Alerted Northern Constabulary had ranked Ross as a 'high risk' missing person and alerted the UK Serious Organised Crime Agency and Portuguese cops.
Ross's sister Gayle last night said the family did not wish to comment, adding: 'We actually don't know anything. The police have never been in contact with us so I don't want to say any more.'
A Portuguese newspaper claimed Ross owed fellow Brit John Maclean £10,000 over a cannabis deal."

David Hartley is the American who was jet-skiing with his wife, Tiffany, on September 30 on Falcon Lake, which straddles the U.S.-Mexican border. The Hartleys had gone to the lake “to photograph a historic, half-submerged church.” Three speedboats of drug cartel “pirates” began firing on the couple and, according to Mrs. Hartley, shot her husband four times, including twice in the back of the head, killing him. I say, according to Mrs. Hartley, because her husband’s body has yet to be found.
Some anonymous Internet commenters argued initially that Mrs. Hartley had murdered her husband, and used narcoterror as a cover story."
